HOUSE

Four summer houses "sing the sea"
in Akrotiri Santorini

This project is about restoring and redesigning four independent two-storey residencies which were abandoned for a long time under extreme weather conditions on the stage of bearing structure.
The 360o view, the strong winds and the prominent position of the building were the elements which defined the architectural gesture. A network of free-standing walls with openings surrounds the enclosed spaces, aiming to integrate the building into the landscape and organize the exterior spaces.
The material consistency dissolves as the landscape invades the interior in all directions, imposing the dominance of the outside towards the inside.
